Safe Crackers
Website Design for Los Angeles-based artist Oliver Payne’s creative agency, Safe Crackers.
Safe Crackers is a creative agency owned and operated by artist and filmmaker, Oliver Payne. Born 1977 in London, Oliver Payne now lives and works in Los Angeles, CA. He is professionally represented across three continents and has shown work within the United States, England, and Japan. Over the past decade, through Safe Crackers, he has worked with various brands and gallery’s, ranging from luxury to street, creating content in the forms of zines, videos, events, and objects.
Safe Crackers was in need of a proper website where projects could be archived and exhibited for viewership. Working closely with Oliver Payne, he explained his vision for the website’s design would draw inspiration from old-school World Industries skateboarding ads. This can be seen in the final design through the simplistic bold black text stacked with square imagery. Drawing further inspiration from skateboarding culture, video thumbnails imitate classic multi-frame photography that was commonly used to display entire trick sequences. Lastly, throughout the site Safe Crackers’ custom lime-green can be seen wherever colored highlights are used.
