PERION — First Person
Art Direction and Brand Identity for the debut release from hip-hop music producer, PERION.
PERION is a hip-hop music producer located in the Central Valley of California. His services include mixing, mastering, and customized music production. As well, he creates his own original music where he currently experiments within the Lo-Fi genre, releasing collections of instrumental beat-tapes.
While working closely with PERION, he indicated a need for a new brand identity that would properly represent his work visually. Specifically, he desired a versatile wordmark logo that portrayed boldness, simplicity, and structure in conjunction with a supportive identity system that could be used across various forms of physical and digital media, such as album covers for newly released music and merchandise.
The final logo was realized using a custom typeface that creates bold and striking structures out of words using simple geometric letterforms. There is a precision produced by the logo that elicits quiet confidence through its cohabitating sharpness and solidity. This wordmark within the visual identity acts as a signature and is to be preceded by any relevant sections of information within each project. This simple system remains flexible across all media, granting PERION the opportunity to personally “sign off” on everything he produces.
