Website Design for Southern California-based visual artist and educator, Nieko McDaniel.

Nieko McDaniel (born 1995 in Dimas, CA) is an interdisciplinary visual artist and educator currently based in Southern California. He received his MFA from American University in Washington D.C. and currently teaches Fine Art at various colleges throughout the United States. His own artworks have been featured in publications and shown in exhibitions across the national scale. His practice centers around identity and world-building, which he relates to escapism, and attributes to the types of entertainment his Millennial generation grew up with. Examples he gives are the genres of music, movies, television, and video games they consume. McDaniel believes the current world is something we try to get away from and says this can be done through simulation and invention.

The artist was in need of a website re-design that both simplified its user interface and modernized its visual archive of his artworks, curriculum vitae, and other forms of information. The new website design accomplished these goals by establishing a clear flow of content categorization. The site is divided into the two sections of “Work” and “Info” allowing visitors to quickly identify and locate the content they seek. The “Work” page is then divided into interconnected pages for each of McDaniel’s series’ of works, making it painless to navigate throughout the history of his artistic practice. The “Info” page cleanly displays McDaniel’s biography alongside a selective version of his curriculum vitae and links to potential areas of interest.
