Larry Davis — Dreamin This Dream Together
Packaging design for the fourth LP from Los Angeles-based Jazz vocalist, Larry Davis.
Bringing his fresh and innovative interpretations of classics from Jazz, Blues, and the American Song Book to a devoted fan base, Larry Davis has been a durable and beloved fixture on the Los Angeles club scene for over a decade and a half. Embarking on a solo recording career in collaboration with producer/engineer/mixer, Annie Miles (Studio MRM), he recorded his debut album Close Your Eyes in 2011. This was followed by Larry Davis Too (2014), Touch (2017), and most recently, Dreamin This Dream Together (2021).
Dreamin This Dream Together originally only had a digital release. The album’s cover design was created at this time using photography by Michael Allen and a typographic layout by Aaron Tilford. When it came time for his album to have a physical release, Larry Davis required the album’s packaging to work in unison with the already established cover design. This goal was accomplished through the continued use of Futura PT to create a strong typographic voice and the powerful portrait photography of Michael Allen used to capture Davis’ likeness. Together these elements not only establish a connection to the original cover art but, more importantly, create a physical home that reflects the tone of Davis’ words and appreciation for both his devoted fan base and those who he collaborated with.
